Malaysian Navy Chief Apologizes for Actions in Ambalat

Malaysian Navy Chief, Admiral Abdul Aziz Jaafar

Kuala Lumpur (Jakarta Post) - Malaysian Navy chief Adm. Abdul Aziz Jaafar offered an apology to the Indonesian people Wednesday over the Ambalat issue, Antara news agency reported.

"We offer an apology if we are considered violating Indonesian territory. We also offer an apology if any of Malaysian naval officers has been involved in a provocative act. We will find them and take stern measures against them," Abdul Aziz told a five-member Indonesian parliamentary delegation.

He said the Malaysian Navy would not deploy its Scorpene submarine at the Ambalat block anymore.

"We are deploying a Scorpene submarine in the deep sea off Kinabalu city. We cannot deploy it in the Malacca Strait which has shallow waters. We will never send Scorpene to the Sulawesi Strait because it will destroy coral reefs there," he said.

The Indonesian delegation comprised Yusron Ihza Mahendra, Shidqi Wahab, Djoko Susilo, Andreas Pareira, and Happy Bone Zulkarnaen, all are members of the House's Commission on defense, information and foreign affairs.

Is this a joke? Sounds like one to me..Either the reporter or the delegation is screwing up big time in this news. Why? The Scorpene hasn't arrived yet. And destroying the coral reefs? hahahaha..
